Although there have been remarkable improvements in health, these have not been shared equally. People’s overall health, as well as their access to and experiences of healthcare services, continue to be influenced by the circumstances within which they grow, live, work and age.
TASC believes that these health inequalities – the unjust and avoidable differences in health – are unfair and need to be addressed.
Through its research, TASC aims to establish and highlight the extent of health inequalities in Ireland and Europe. In particular, it aims to examine inequalities in access to healthcare services and to develop progressive policy recommendations that support greater equality of access.
TASC’s current project on health inequalities is examining access to mental health services for those on low incomes.
