Shana Cohen Pens Opinion on the True Lesson of Brexit

On April 3, 2019, TASC Director Shana Cohen, published an Irish Times opinion piece focusing on how Irish politicians must become more receptive to the rising inequality in Ireland or else risk the rise of nativist or populist politics seen elsewhere in Europe. In the article, titled "True lesson of Brexit still lost on Irish politicians," Cohen states that the protection of public interest is essential if a functioning and trusted democracy is to be maintained.  Cohen argues that using a Citizens' Assembly to address the most pressing needs in Ireland, the cost of living and the quality and availability of public services, would send a strong and positive message that Irish politicians that care about the common good.
